The kids had outgrown the little swing on the left (swing had been removed) and we needed two anyway. I also have had that chairlift chair for years, never found a good way to hang it. So there you have it. And I’m exhausted.
Off to bed.

Very cool! I like very much that you knew to put the bolts all the way through the beam. You probably know this, but keep an eye on the wood as the kids get heavier. Even the best stuff is prone to cracking with the repetitive stress.
Our HOA bought a new, better playset than the one that wore out, but the vendor wouldn’t put swings, saying there wasn’t enough room around the area per new standards. So, we have a playset without swings, which I think misses the point. :(

Chair lift swings are the best swings. Here’s a pic of us bolting ours in about a month ago. I cemented feet in and had my brother in law and his GF come help us lift and bolt it all up. The bottom horizontal tube was cut out right after this was taken. I still need to buy a new cushion for it or cut some plywood and get it upholstered like original.

Nice! Mine for sure needs to be scraped and painted at a minimum. Cushions would be nice, but I’ll probably settle for bringing some out when I go to sit there. This one was probably all wood, all the time in its original location.

For sure, I prefer overkill with stuff like this. I had a 4x8 beam that was cut out of our house, that I used for the kid swing before - it was a baby swing, really. I got some good laughs out of that, I think it could have lifted an engine, let alone a baby.
This time, I bought the beam, but went with another 4x8 pine because that’s what our house is made of and... why not? There’s a local small custom lumber place and I know them well, they’ve got a ton of stuff like that. They offered me an oak beam same size but I don’t think I could have lifted it into place, maybe not even off the ground for that matter.
The through-bolts were a good find, it’s nice not to have to worry about it for a long time. But I’ll keep an eye on it over time.
